Guide the process

If you put people who share the same passion around a table, nothing can stop them. That’s obviously a good thing. But if you want that passion to stay alive and be translated into concrete results, you need an experienced process supervisor.

This is the person who keeps the passion alive by making sure that everyone feels involved and has a say in workshops and brainstorming sessions. The process supervisor also conscientiously encourages people to think outside the box and provides them with every possible angle. Conversely, he pushes them to narrow down the possibilities again until only a few ideas are left. If this process of divergence and convergence is repeated a few times, only the best ideas will be left.

One of the most important things for a process supervisor to do is to quickly give the participants an indication of what their ideas may lead to. It is therefore advisable to give the ideas to a designer during the development process, who will turn them into something tangible. You will notice that this will only strengthen the participants' drive to improve the ideas. At the same time, you will have created a setting of “learning by doing”, where experimenting together is allowed and even necessary.
